After gaining 15 years of valuable experience at various CPA firms in California and Minnesota, Jim started James C. Buseth, P.A. in 2001 with a desire to provide excellent CPA services to clients at a reasonable cost in a small firm atmosphere. The firm, under Jim's direction, dedicated staff, and referrals from satisfied clients, has experienced consistent growth and expanded services since the doors opened for business.

Jim works closely with his clients providing services such as tax planning, tax preparation, financial statements, and business entity selection. Business clients consist of construction, subcontractors, professionals, retail stores, manufacturing, and farmers. Jim meets with a variety of individual clients throughout the year to prepare their returns and assist them with tax saving ideas. Estate and trust tax returns have also become an integral part of the firm.
Jim enjoys serving his community through the Mankato Kiwanis Club and Camp Patterson. He also holds various leadership positions at his church.

Jim and his wife have three grown daughters. His hobbies include hunting, camping, and home projects.

Originally from Sleepy Eye, Chad attended Saint Mary’s University in Winona where he earned his accounting degree and played baseball. After marrying his high school sweetheart and settling in Eagle Lake, Chad worked sixteen years as Controller for mechanical contractors, including twelve years with Weber Plumbing and Heating Inc. Also at this time, Chad was able to gain tax experience assisting James Buseth during the busy season.

In 2012, Chad was offered the opportunity to work with James C. Buseth PA full-time. Chad became an Enrolled Agent (EA) January of 2015. As an enrolled agent, Chad is federally-licensed as a tax practitioner authorized to advise, represent, and prepare tax returns for individuals and businesses.

Away from the office Chad is an active member within his church community and has been a coach for several athletic teams. He has also held various leadership positions during his twenty years as a volunteer fireman in Eagle Lake.

Spending time and being involved in the activities of his wife, son, and four daughters is of high importance. Chad also enjoys staying in tune with the sports world, golfing, and fishing.  

Formerly from Lake Henry, Minnesota, Daniel attended Minnesota State University Mankato where he studied accounting. He married his wife, Anna, in 2015. In the spring of 2017, Daniel graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting. Daniel then obtained his CPA license in February of 2018.  Daniel, Anna and their three children reside in Mankato. 

Daniel enjoys spending time with friends and family and being active in his church community at Saints Peter and Paul in Mankato. When time allows, he likes going to the gym, playing basketball, and following the Minnesota pro sports teams.

Originally from Lake Henry, Minnesota, Mitchell followed in the footsteps of his older brother, Daniel, and attended Minnesota State University Mankato. He married his wife in May of 2019. In December of 2020, Mitchell earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting. He also obtained his CPA license in the winter of 2022. After spending two years at a larger accounting firm in Mankato, Mitchell came on board at James C. Buseth, P.A. in the fall of 2022. Mitchell, his wife, daughter and son reside in Eagle Lake.

Mitchell loves being around family and making trips to see all of them regularly. In his free time, he enjoys being active, disc golfing, and spending time out on the lake.

Phyllis resides in the Worthington area with her husband, Dennis. They have two children and seven grandchildren. When she’s not working, Phyllis enjoys walking, being in nature, reading and learning. Phyllis has been a tax professional for over 50 years and enjoys working with farmers.

Jane is originally from San Jose, California. She graduated from California Baptist College in 1988 with a degree in Accounting. Her first job was at a CPA firm in Palm Springs- where she met her future husband, Jim. After marrying Jim, they moved to Mankato.

Jane began working at the office after raising their three daughters. She would say she brings the fun to the office! She enjoys getting to know the clients and serving them. She has consistently received the, “Employee of the Year,” award too!

Anna grew up in Paynesville, Minnesota. She married her husband, Daniel, in 2015 and they have three children. Anna graduated from Minnesota State University Mankato in May of 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. In October of 2019, Anna joined the team at James C. Buseth, P.A. as a part-time administrative assistant.

Anna enjoys cooking, baking, spending time with her family and friends as well as being actively involved at her church, Saints Peter and Paul in Mankato.
